Taurus Season

Now that we’ve survived eclipse season, the theme this month is “change,” as all outer planets are changing signs within the span of five months, which is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Pluto recently entered Aquarius, Neptune entered Aries, Saturn enters Aries on May 24th, Jupiter enters Cancer in June, and Uranus enters Gemini in July. With the exception of Jupiter, these outer planets are leaving water and earth signs for fire and air signs. In astrology, fire and air signs are masculine, assertive signs; thus, we may feel optimism and energy return to society in a drastic way. Outer planets affect society, as opposed to “personal” planets like Mercury, Venus, Mars, and the Moon. The lack of fire and air energy in the sky since 2018 can explain the low societal energy and pessimism we’ve experienced for the past seven years. Thank goodness that’s over with. Here’s a breakdown of important aspects this month…

May 7 — New Moon in Taurus. It will be easy to focus on practical, earthly matters now. We probably won’t want to start new projects, so instead enjoy the sensual things, as Venus rules Taurus. Enjoy a massage. Listen to great music. Cook a nice, bougie meal for yourself. Taurus rules money, so it’s a good time review finances and do some budgeting.

May 15 — Mercury enters Taurus. When the Messenger planet visits the house of the bull our patience for fluff is zero. “Just the facts, ma’am” is the theme. We need to curtail our tendency to be blunt when speaking to others for the next four weeks. It is a good time, however, for doing monotonous, boring work. Get it out of the way now, before he zooms into Gemini next month, which noticeably picks up the pace of our lives.

May 18 — Venus conjunct Uranus. This is a potent, sexy planetary combo when the planet of love and the planet of unexpected surprises rendezvous together. Expect relationship shakeups. Your partner may propose something unconventional. Be careful with money, though. In addition to love, Venus rules money, and Uranus likes to shock. Hopefully you’ll just win money from a scratch ticket and the surprise won’t come in the form of a letter from the IRS.

Also May 18 — Jupiter cazimi (conjuncts) the Sun. The astrology word cazimi means a planet is at the “heart of the sun.” This powerful aspect heralds perhaps the luckiest day of the year for material/financial expansion and $UCCE$$ … so if you have an idea to pitch or a deal to seal, today’s the day to do it. I never play the lottery, but I will today!

May 19 — Sun sextiles Neptune. A perfect day to hear live music, lose yourself in a good movie, visit a museum, float in a tank, anything escapism-related is good for the soul today. Also a good day for envisioning/manifesting future outcomes and vision-boarding, if you’re into that. We’ll be extra psychic today, too.

May 20— Gemini Season officially begins as the Sun enters this mutable air sign, giving an “air” of chattiness, quick-wittedness, and creativity to the next four weeks.

May 23 — Venus enters Gemini, while she conjuncts Jupiter and sextiles Neptune AND its a Full Moon in Sadge. You couldn’t ask for a better day to have a dinner party, host a fundraiser, or do anything social-butterflyish for that matter. Too bad it’s a Thursday instead of the weekend. We feel cheerful and adventurous. Your wit today can probably charm the pants off of that person you’ve been eyeing. People are good conversationalists and are feeling magnanimous. The wine and money will flow. Don’t waste this one on the couch watching TV. Get out and socialize. It’ll be a good one.

May 25 — Jupiter enters Gemini. He brings truth, wisdom, and perspective in addition to growth. I believe that in lively, curious, intellectual Gemini, we are going to benefit from this event in the areas of learning, communicating, socializing, and perhaps most importantly, in expanding our minds. We’ll be curious and receptive to new ways of thinking, and we will want to explore new concepts and philosophies, which is always a good thing.
