Venus is about to go retrograde on March 1st, 2025 for 40 days. This happens every 18 months or so, and like Mercury retrograde, it doesn't mean that the planet is moving backwards in the sky. It only appears to be doing so from our vantage point here on Earth.
This time Venus is going to spend the first 26 days in Aries, before sliding into Pisces on March 27th. This Venus retrograde will stir the proverbial pot on many levels, most notably our love lives.
Venus, as one of the “personal planets” in astrology, is tied to the Greek and Roman ancient goddess of love. Personal planets, which also include Mercury and Mars, rule situations, emotions, and experiences we deal with on a daily level. Venus embodies the attributes of beauty, pleasure, and romance. Because of this, she has a clear connection to relationships, finances, and art.
When Venus is retrograde, we tend to revisit situations around beauty, love, relationships, art, and even money. Our exes suddenly come out of the woodwork. Sometimes situations return for us to face once again, which can create a sense of revisiting the past to either rekindle it or find closure, so we learn from it.
During a Venus is retrograde, avoid starting a new relationship, moving in together, getting engaged, and especially getting married. Don't do any of this stuff while she is retrograde or it will probably implode later on. During Venus retrograde cycles, we are not clearly seeing anything she rules—we often have a confused, misdirected, or ambiguous view on things. People, projects, plans, and feelings from the past will return once again—and we are able to welcome them back into our lives, or to release them once and for all.
If you have lots of planets in Aries or Pisces, or you have an Aries or Pisces Sun or rising sign, you may feel this retrograde more intensely than others. Look at your natal chart and see where Aries and Pisces are located. Those are the houses where you'll feel the Venus retrograde impact the most. But everyone should expect that relationships will be tested, and people who are single should embrace their singledom and not bother coupling up until this transit is over mid-April. This too shall pass.
