Soulmates and Twin Souls, How to Tell the Difference

Updated: Mar 6, 2019

“Is he/she my soulmate?” Clients ask me this question quite often. People are even more curious at this time of year about the topic of soulmates. As well as twin souls, often called twin flames. Many are confused by, or do not know the difference between these two concepts. Regardless of your current relationship status you should know what you’re searching for and perhaps better understand what you have already.

Edgar Cayce, who is often regarded as the most accurate psychic since Nostradamus, differentiates between soulmates and twin souls. Soulmates are people we meet with whom we have a spark, which is activated by the karmic pattern between the two. It comes as a surprise to many that we all have more than one soulmate. Cayce writes, "A soulmate is an ongoing connection with another individual that the soul picks up again in various times and places over lifetimes. We are attracted to another person at a soul level, not because that person is our unique complement, but because by being with that individual, we are somehow provided with an impetus to become whole ourselves."

Soulmates are brought together as a means of assisting both individuals in soul growth, whereas twin souls often come together to achieve jointly an outcome that serves the greater whole of humanity. With twin souls, there are no sparks, but there is harmony, balance, and love. We rarely enter romantic relationships with a twin soul.

If you are convinced that someone is your soulmate but suffer disappointment because it isn’t working out romantically with him/her, don’t despair. Your other soulmates are probably waiting right around the corner, so keep your eyes -- and heart -- open for other possibilities.
